The MUNPC – Leisure Time Activity Center has a rich history of service to the Cornhill community, and is an affiliate of St. Paul’s Baptist Church. The Center, located at 1115 West Street, Utica New York 13501, was founded in 1979 under the visionary leadership of Rev. Franklin J Upthegrove, a former pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church. The center is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization, organized for the purposes of the renewal and restoration of the Cornhill community.For many years the center housed an Adult Day Care program for the frail and elderly, the first of its kind in the Mohawk Valley. In the past Leisure Time also sponsored a Child Day Care program for pre-school children.
Currently, the organization focuses on services to senior citizens, and serves as one of the few facilities available to the community, for a small rental fee, to hold gatherings such as meetings, repast, family reunions, birthdays and anniversaries, receptions, and other types of community events.
The MUNCP was incorporated on January 25th, 1979 under the Leadership of Rev. Franklin J Upthegrove as an affiliated 501(c)(3) to St. Paul's Baptist Church with a misson to end blight in Cornhill and the City of Utica. Our founder's vision included providing a vehicle to secure funding for the critically needed programs and initiatives that would contribute to the renewal and resoration of the Cornhill community and promote the general wellfare of its residents.
Throughtout our history we have owned several houses throughout Cornhill providing safe, low-income housing and most famously provided community programming and local employment though tthe Leisure Time Center.
